Dear Colleagues,
It is our pleasure to invite you to attend the 2nd Caucasian Regional Summer School on Clinical Epileptology that will take place in Bazaleti, October 4-9, 2009.
The 2nd Caucasian Regional Summer School on Clinical Epileptology in Georgia will be held with close collaboration of CEA to the Georgian League against Epilepsy (GLAE), Centre for Prevention and Control of Epilepsy (CPCE), Georgian Association of Epilepsy and Environement (GAEE), Georgian Association of Child Neurologists and Neurosurgeons (GACNN), Georgian Society of Young Epileptologists (GSYE).
The new educational initiative that takes place once a year in Caucasian Countries is actively supported by EUREPA Scientific Board.
The founder of Georgian Neurology and Epileptology Prof. Peter Saradjishvili was a follower of Rossolimo, that influenced his western orientation. Owing to this fact Georgia escaped the view dominated in the Former Soviet Union, according which epilepsy was considered as psychiatric pathology. Under the heading of P. Saradjishvili was formed the group that subsequently established the Institute of Neurology.
In 1949 the first EEG investigation was performed in Georgia.
In 1983 under the heading of Prof. Tina Geladze in the Institute of Neurology was established the Epilepsy Centre with the best for that time personnel and technical recourses.
After declaring independence Georgia joined ILAE in 1996 and since this period tries to participate in all its activities.
